General, workshop
Last year, members of our team participates in workshops in September and October. We would like to introduce some of them.
From the 26th to 29th October this year‘s GWJ transmission workshop took place. Around 40 teams took part in the three-hour–long online sessions. The focus laid on the basics of the spur gear gearing, the calculation and creation of interlocks and transmissions with the software. Overall each participant was able to get to know more about the program and transmissions in general. We’d like to thank GWJ for the great workout.

But this wasn’t the only workshop we participated in:
Altair Engineering Inc. arranged the Altair Virtual Student Workshop on 24th to 25th of September. Due to the current pandemic, the workshop was hosted via a video platform. Altair has been supporting our team with CAE and FEA software tools for many years. Especially, we use the HyperWorks Suite for FEA simulation and topolgy optimization. During the webinar, several programms, in particular for multi-body simulation and the strucural optimization of a fiber composite design. Besides that, representatives from different Formula Student teams shared their experiences based on detailed assemblies. As a result of this, we can improve our modelling consistently. We want to thank Altair Engineering for their long-term support and the organization of the workshop.

In addition to the previosly mentioned workshops, Siemens -like in the last years- arranged workshops about their software used in the Formula Student. These are for example Siemens Star-CCM+ and Teamcenter Product Cos-ting. The online training sessions were spread on a few days and were very informative with the help of interactive parts. Our Aerodynamics subdivision already uses the simulation software Star-CCM+ for many years and has done projects with the team at Siemens beyond the workshops. This helps us to develop and learn as well as our sponsor through application reports. We would like to thank Siemens once again for the great cooperation and the workshops.
